چکیده

This paper considers an enhancement to multi-cell processing for the uplink of a cellular system, whereby the mobile stations are allowed to exchange messages on orthogonal channels of fixed capacity (conferencing). Both conferencing among mobile stations in different cells and in the same cell (inter and intra-cell conferencing, respectively) are studied. For both cases, it is shown that a rate-splitting transmission strategy, where part of the message is exchanged on the conferencing channels and then transmitted cooperatively to the base stations, is capacity-achieving for sufficiently large conferencing capacity. In case of inter-cell conferencing, this strategy can be regarded as able to perform convolutional pre-equalization of the signal encoding the common messages in the spatial domain, where the number of taps of the finite-impulse response equalizer depends on the number of conferencing rounds. Analysis in the low signal-to-noise ratio regime and numerical results validate the advantages of conferencing as a complementary technology to multi-cell processing.

Uplink Coordinated Multi-Point ARQ in MIMO Cellular Systems

Coordinated multi-point processing at multiple base stations can improve coverage, system throughput, and cell-edge throughput for future cellular systems. In this paper, we study the coordinated reception of transmitted signals at multiple MIMO base stations to exploit cooperative diversity. In particular, we propose to employ cooperative multicell automatic repeat request (ARQ) protocol via b...

Cooperative Receiving Scheme for Downlink of Cellular Systems

In wireless mobile cellular systems, it has been popular for mobiles to support some short-range wireless communication protocols (SRWCPs)−Bluetooth, Zigbee, NFC (near field communication), etc. In this paper, we introduce a simple SRWCP-aided downlink cooperative receiving scheme. In the proposed scheme, a cluster is composed by some active mobiles which can be connected via SRWCPs, and then t...

Interference in Mobile Cellular Cdma Forward Traffic Channels

Mobile cellular CDMA networks for tactical applications require mobile base stations in order to provide communications on the moue. Because of the mobility of the base stations, power balancing among the transmitters at different base stations is more dificult than in commercial cellular CDMA systems. Handoff of mobiles among base stations is also more difficult, primarily due to the mobility ...

Cooperative MIMO multicell networks

Recently, the pressing desire to provide cost-effective solutions aimed at supporting high-throughput broadband wireless access with large-scale coverage has significantly changed the notion of the traditional cellular systems. Physical layer cooperation serves as an enabling technology for such a change. In latest cellular networks, neighboring infrastructure stations, such as base stations (B...

Secure Communication in Shotgun Cellular Systems

In this paper, we analyze the secure connectivity in Shotgun cellular systems (SCS: Wireless communication systems with randomly placed base stations) by Poisson intrinsically secure communication graph (IS-graph), i.e., a random graph which describes the connections that are secure over a network. For a base-station in SCS, a degree of secure connections is determined over two channel models: ...
